Tag Team - Whoomp! (There It Is)

Whoomp! (There It Is) reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1993 and has since been heard at sporting events ever since. It’s rated #97 on VH1’s Greatest One-Hit Wonders and #58 on Billboards Greatest Songs Of All Time.

Interesting Facts: A song called “Whoot, There It Is” was released two months prior to Whoomp! (There It Is), by fellow Miami based group 95 South. DC from Tag Team claimed to have heard the phrase from strippers and was unaware of the other groups very similar song. Draw your own conclusions… 

Blind Melon - No Rain

Released: June 8th, 1993
Album: Blind Melon

No Rain is the second single off of Blind Melon’s debut album. The song reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks and Album Rock Tracks charts.
It reached #1 in Canada and is the bands highest charting single.

Interesting Facts: Lead singer Shannon Hoon was good friends with Axl Rose and would often sing backing vocals on Guns N’ Roses tracks.

Janet Jackson - Together Again

Released: December 2nd, 1997
Album: Velvet Rope

Together Again is the second single off of Jackson’s sixth album “Velvet Rope”. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and was on the charts for a total of 46 weeks. The song is certified Gold by the RIAA. It was written about a friend of Jackson’s who died of AIDS.

Interesting Facts: The song was originally written as a ballad, but Jackson wanted to give the song a New York disco feel, taking inspiration from Studio 54 which was a big part of her childhood.
